Laboratory department

The Laboratory Department at St. Joseph Mission Hospital Peramiho offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic services crucial for patient care. These services include clinical chemistry, hematology and blood transfusion, serology, microbiology, histopathology, and parasitology, ensuring accurate and timely test results. The laboratory was established in 1949 when the hospital was officially recognized. In 1950, a dedicated brick building was constructed for the laboratory. Significant expansion occurred in 2019, bringing the laboratory up to international standards, enhancing its capacity and the quality of services provided.

Sub divisions

The laboratory department at St Joseph's mission hospital Peramiho is organized into specialized sub-divisions:​

-Serology: Tests for antibodies and antigens related to various infections and autoimmune diseases.

-Microbiology: Analyzes samples for bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections.

-Clinical Chemistry: Conducts tests related to liver, kidney, and metabolic functions, as well as hormone and                                   tumor marker analysis.

-Histopathology: Our histopathology department conducts a range of essential procedures, including                                               grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining of samples.

-Parasitology: Identification of parasites in blood, stool, and other specimens.

-Hematology and Blood Transfusion: Performs complete blood counts, blood smears, coagulation tests, and blood typing.
